Calling all women of faith (shaky or solid)
….Ever feel edgy?
A storm is brewing?
“The anxiety has its reasons…Airplanes fall out of the sky. Terrorists terrorize. Good people turn bad. The other shoe will fall. Fine print is going to be found. It’s just a matter of time…” (Lucado)
If this introduction sounds familiar or you want to make some sense out of this chaotic world we live in, please consider joining the Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Study Group at JUMC meeting from 9:00 am to 11:00 am beginning Tuesday, June 18, 2019 for 5 weeks. (June 18, 25 & July 2, 9 & 16).
We will begin studying Max Lucado’s Anxious for Nothing – Finding calm in a chaotic world DVD study. Pastor Lucado also says we worry. We even feel anxious about feeling anxious. Take heart, my friend.
We all encounter anxiety, but we don’t have to give in to it. The road map is found in Philippians 4:4-8.
Join us for a great time of study, prayer, sometimes snacks, & enjoyable girlship. For more information, contact Sara in the church office or Jan Jorden.
Listen, Love, Repeat: Karen Ehman is a well known speaker and author of ten books and speaker with the Proverbs 31 Ministry. We will begin the study – Listen, Love, Repeat – Other-Centered Living in a Self-Centered World.
The text & workbook accompanies the DVD 6-session teaching. The text contains 10 chapters so we will study for whatever length of time we need to. What a great topic to study & share our experiences as we try to be aware of others’ needs in a selfish, self-centered world!
Taste and See: Margaret Feinberg’s new study (DVD & workbook) is Taste and See Discovering God Among Butchers, Bakers, & Fresh Food Makers. She has chosen 6 foods from the Bible that ties in ancient customs and how God’s abundance applies to our lives today. We will end up near Easter and will incorporate the study of Passover for Jews and Christians which is exciting as well!
Each week we will collect items for the local food pantries. You can help by either bringing in the items needed for that week or by supporting the ministry financially through the weekly offering. If you write a check, be sure to put “Feed The 5,000” on the memo line and we will use that money to purchase goods for the program.
To see what items we are currently collecting, check out the Feed The 5,000 board next to the collection table. We appreciate your support of this program. So far, your generosity has provided over 10,000 items for local families. This includes side dishes, boxed meals, cereal, pasta, and many hygiene/cleaning items that aren’t often donated to pantries. So thank you so much for all of your support. You are all awesome!
Our Weekly Items:
There are so many exciting things going on in the lives of our youth right now and I’d love for you to be able to be a part of it all. I know that sometimes in the church when you volunteer for something, it ends up becoming more of a “Life Sentence” than volunteering.
“Oh you’d like to provide snacks for our youth this week? Great! We’ll expect you to do that for the rest of your mortal life.”
That’s not what volunteering should be like and that’s not what I’m looking for. I want you to help out as much or as little as you’d like. If you want to bring snacks once a year, great, I’ll sign you up. If you want to chaperone the youth every Sunday of the year, great, let’s do that.
More important than how often you help is how you help. Sure there are things that we need, but I’m not as interested in filling our needs as I am in making sure you’re helping in ways that you are passionate about or in ways that call to your natural talents.
Do you love to cook? Great, we can always use snacks and treats. Do you love to play music? Awesome, maybe you’d like to come to one of our youth band practices or better yet, let’s go to some concerts! Do you have a heart for youth? Just come hang out with us some Sunday night and see what we do. Maybe you’re an ‘Idea’ person, great, let’s hear what you’ve got!
There are so many ways to get involved in the lives of these youth who are the future of the church and a light to the lost. If you’d like to help out, fill out the form below and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you and I hope to hear from you!
